The Cortijo

The Cortijo faces east toward the sunrise on the slopes of the southern sierras in the province of Seville, the heart of Andalusia. From a dilapidated old farmhouse built in 1891, it has gradually developed into a beautiful vacation complex.

The Cortijo (farmhouse in Spanish) sits on 10 acres of its own land, partly olive trees and partly virgin forest on the steeply sloping hillside. It is just a kilometer away from and overlooks the village of Algámitas, with just over 1,200 inhabitants.

On the first floor there is a large dining room with enough seating for 22 people and French doors to the terrace. There are plenty of tables and chairs on the front terrace and two covered patios if you want to dine outside. If you cook for yourself, you have access to our fully equipped industrial kitchen.

The Cortijo has a comfortable sitting room with a crackling fireplace; ideal for winter. Our bar has a television. Free WIFI is available throughout the cortijo.

On the ground floor is a checkroom with two toilets and sink. Laundry facilities are available. Bedding and towels include pool towels. The Cortijo is cleaned at the beginning and end of each stay.

The Cortijo is within easy reach of Los Pueblos Blancos, the famous Moorish white villages. There are opportunities for photography, bird watching, painting, horseback riding and many other activities. Car rental is cheap and easy to arrange at any of the area airports. If you get the chance, consider visiting the beautiful cities of Cordoba, Jerez, Seville, Ronda, Malaga, Cadiz and Granada, all within easy reach. Nearby Osuna and Olvera are also worth a visit with fantastic views and lots of beautiful Spanish architecture and history. They are also ideal if you want to stock up at a large supermarket.
